Doris Jean Martin
89, of Eaton, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
She was born March 28, 1933 to the late Lemuel E. and Eva B. (Wallen) Hileman, and was raised by her foster-parents Ralph and Faye Dull.
Doris grew up working on the farm and graduated from Gratis High School in 1954 where she played in the band and was also a Majorette leading the band. She then attended Miami University for two years studying music. In 1958 she met the love of her life, Wayne Martin, and they married in 1959 and went on to have six children, Richard, Ralph, Randy, Rhonda, Rebecca, and Wayne.
Doris was part of a Twin Mother’s Club in the 1960’s and 1970’s, where she loved to gather with other moms of twins. As a member of Grace Brethren Church of West Alexandria for over 50 years, she loved and served God and played the piano when asked. Taking her kids on long bike rides when they were young, working in her garden, and doing word puzzles are just a few of the things Doris enjoyed in life. However, watching western movies and spending time with her children, 3 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren are what she loved doing the most.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her foster parents; husband, Wayne Martin; sons, Randy and Wayne Martin; sister, Lois Brown; and father and mother-in-law, Andrew and Onedra Martin.
She is survived by her children, Richard Martin of Eaton, Ralph and wife Darlene Martin of West Alexandria, Rhonda and husband Bobby Sanders of West Alexandria, and Becky and husband Greg Brubaker of Eaton; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Baughman of West Alexandria; and 3 step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 10 from 10AM to 12PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria. The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor Elbert Sorrell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, West Alexandria.
