Doris Jean Aveyard
Age 86, of Knoxville, TN, southern Florida, and originally from Farmersville, OH, has completed her life journey. Jesus whispered to Doris Jean, “It’s time to come home.” She peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Tuesday, January 31st, 2023. Doris was welcomed by her beloved husband of 47 years, Thomas L. Aveyard; her mother and father, Vera Pearl (Hoffman) Denison and William Paul Denison; sisters, Lois Fynn, Bonnie Denison, Pauline Stacy; loving pets, Babe, Saucey and Beulah. She will be missed by her daughter, Tonya (Dave) Bercaw; grandchildren, Mason (Talyr) Bercaw, Tommi Nicole Bercaw; numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. A heartfelt thank you to the special staff and nurses at The Pointe at Lifespring Assisted Living in Knoxville, TN. Doris loved to spend time with her family, no matter what the occasion was. They would play card games, take trips to the park, and everything in between. In her leisure time, Doris enjoyed reading all the Sue Grafton detective novels but if you really knew Doris, you know she liked to spend her downtime cleaning because it was her favorite hobby. One of her favorite memories with her husband, Tom, was traveling Europe to the Caribbean and all the places in between. As a couple, they also liked to go out on the town and dance the Jitterbug. When she was older, she enjoyed playing Canasta at the senior center for many years and going out to eat afterwards. She particularly liked Lakeside Tavern, Aubrey’s, Calhouns, and the Apple Cake Tea Room. She was a proud, devoted Christian woman who was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN. She will be missed dearly by those who loved her but please find comfort in knowing she is awaiting you all in the Kingdom of Heaven. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, from 12PM - 2PM at Preble Memory Gardens (3377 US RT 35 East, West Alexandria, OH) with a service to follow at 2PM. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to your local humane society in honor of Doris Aveyard. For condolences, please visit www.rlcfc.com.
