Donnie Ray Slavens Sr.

Donnie Ray Slavens, Sr., 65, of Ruskin, Florida and formerly of Middletown, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, June 28,2018 in Ruskin, surrounded by family and friends. Born September 21, 1952 in Kenova, West Virginia, he was a son of the late John Arthur and Ruth Elizabeth (Moore) Slavens. Donnie had worked from 1973 - 1995 for Continuous Spouting in Sharonville; then as a truck driver for Kyle and Dunlap for 15 years. He loved being in Florida, the beaches and riding his motorcycle. He gave his life to the Lord in 1985 and had been faithful ever since. Donnie loved the Church and had a passion for playing bluegrass gospel on his guitar. He served with the National Guard from 1971 - 1977 and had been a member of the NRA. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother Mike Slavens and mother-in-law Nellie Fraley. Survived by wife Donna Jean (Fraley) Slavens whom he married December 18, 1971: daughter Jessica Williams of West Chester, Ohio: son Donnie R. "Ray" Slavens and wife Brandy of Springboro, OH: grandchildren Cody Williams of Hamilton, Ohio; Isaac Slavens of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sophia Bunce of Springboro; Rylan Slavens of Springboro: great granddaughter Raelynn Williams: brothers and sister Arthur Slavens and wife Debby of Westwood, Kentucky; Roger Slavens and wife Debbie of Valrico, Florida; and Jonna Page and husband David of Gilbertsville, Kentucky: sister-in-law Norma Slavens of Wurtland, Kentucky: father-in-law Jessie Fraley and wife Jean of Trenton, Ohio. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastors Jason Faulkner and Mike Callihan officiating, followed by burial in Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Alexandria.
