David L. Plummer

David L. Plummer, 66, of Lewisburg, OH, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 4, 2016. Born April 14, 1950 in Hamden, OH, he was a son of the late Thomas W. & Alma (McClaskey) Plummer. David was a Vietnam War veteran serving with the US Army 82nd Airborne, and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman's Badge and the Army Commendation Medal. After the War, he served with the National Guard for 20 years. David worked as a truck driver for many years and retired at age 50, having worked at Ft. Bliss, TX, J.B. Hunt and Brown Transport. He was a member of the American Legion and life member of the D.A.V. He was proud of his American Indian heritage and absolutely loved fishing. Survived by wife Cora L. (Baker) Plummer whom he married September 18, 1971: children David Russell Plummer of Richmond, IN; Thomas Lee Plummer & wife Brennan of Ebensburg, PA; Holly Lee Matheny & husband Ryan of Miamisburg, OH; and Angel Dawn Plummer & companion Scott of Greenville, OH: grandchildren Cassandra Wright, Alixandra Wright, Ricky Barnhart, Brianna Barnhart, Hailey Barnhart and Gavin Matheny: brothers and sisters Donna, Larry, Tommy, Jr., Ed, Glenn and Carol: numerous nieces and nephews: and special friends Regina Perry and Charles Wathen. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria, OH. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Elmer Buck presiding. Military honors will be presented at the graveside by the Preble County Honor Guard and the US Army.
