Cora E. (Bryant) Powell-Rice-Stewart-Nester

86, of Eaton, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

She was born May 5, 1938, in Cartersville, Kentucky, to the late Leslie and Ruth (Rector) Bryant.

In addition to her parents, Cora was preceded in death by her husbands, Earl J. Powell, Vernon Rice, Thomas Stewart, and Gearl Nester; children, Gary Wayne (Brenda) Powell, Ruth Etta (Charlie) Powell-Lowe, L. Harold Powell, and Terry Rice; grandchildren, Brian David Powell, Katy Lynn, and Kelby Rice; great grandson, Quinton Etter; and brother, Lee R. (Edna) Bryant.

She is survived by her son, David (Sharon) Powell; daughter, Mary Powell; stepchildren, Donna Rice and Thomas Stewart, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeremy (Victoria) Powell, Kimberly (Chelsie) Powell, Mendy Jo (Josh) Perkins, Billy Cundiff, Mikey Cundiff, Cora Dawn Powell, Larren Etter, Shannon Rice-Ledford, Stephanie Powell, Angela & Joseph Mueller, and Leslie Lynn; brother, Willie B (Shirley) Bryant; and many great grandchildren.

Despite contracting polio as a toddler, she refused to let challenges define her life. While living life on crutches, she raised five children with unwavering dedication, managing a spotless home filled with warmth and laughter.

Cora enjoyed going fishing, often finding peace in the gentle rhythm of the water and the thrill of the catch. Her sharp mind was evident in her love for crossword puzzles, and she rarely passed up the opportunity to enjoy a lively game of bingo or Rummy.

An entrepreneurial spirit led her to sell Avon, where her friendly nature and hard work touched the lives of many. She also triumphed over breast cancer, a testament to her strength and courage.

A visitation will be held Monday, November 25 from 11AM to 12PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Rev. Wallace Davis officiating.  Interment will follow at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
