Clifford D. Smith Sr.

Clifford D. Smith, Sr., 74, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away early Friday morning, May 29, 2020. Born March 23, 1946, he was a son of the late Alvin and Lula M. (Cole) Smith. Cliff retired after 30 years with the Maintenance Department of the Inland Division of General Motors Vandalia Plant. He loved nature and his interests included genealogy, music and trivia. A talented woodworker, he also rebuilt and restored several vehicles over the years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by step daughter Tracy Apgar in 1988 and brother Douglas Smith. Survived by wife of 30 years Kathy (Nevans) Smith whom he married August 26, 1989; sons Clifford D. "Charlie" Smith, Jr. and wife Glenda of Lewisburg, and Darren Alan "Buster" Smith and wife Dawn of Englewood; stepson Jeff Apgar and wife Susan of Wickliffe, OH; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; sisters Georgia Powell of Lewisburg, Cheryl Popham of Springfield, Jennifer Gregory of Palmyra, VA, and Yvonne "Winks" Wardle and husband Keith of Englewood; and sister-in-law Jeanine Gaver and husband Bill of Waynesville. Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria.
