Bonnie L. (Hayes) Cook

81, of Richmond, Indiana, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 9, 2024 at home.

She was born May 22, 1943, in Greenville, to the late Otis R. Hayes and Daisy Pearl (Embry) Greer.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Russell Cook; son, Jimmie Cook; daughters Ruth Apple and Serena Short; grandsons, Jeremy Gray, Russell S. Cook, and Chico Cook; stepdad, Arthur Greer; 11 siblings; and special dog, Cookie.

She is survived by her children, Hope (Mike) Baker, John Cook, Jack Cook, Marty Cook, Russell J. (Linda) Cook, and Chris Cook; grandchildren she raised, Jessie and Ashley Cook; 38 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and sisters, Pauline Downing, Geraldine Millington, and Kathy Williams.

Bonnie had a lifelong love for the music of Elvis Presley. His voice was the soundtrack to many of her happiest moments, and she could often be found humming along to his timeless hits. The King of Rock 'n' Roll held a special place in her heart, and his music was a constant source of comfort and joy throughout her life.

Another passion of Bonnie's was watching the hummingbirds that frequented her flowers. She spent countless hours sitting by the window, marveling at their delicate beauty and the joy they brought to her world. The sight of those tiny birds flitting about brought her a sense of peace and contentment that she cherished deeply.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 14 from 11AM to 1PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria with the funeral service to begin at 1PM.  Bonnie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Russell, at Preble Memory Gardens Cemetery.
