Bill Mcmurray

Bill McKinley McMurray, age 81, of West Alexandria, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, September 27, 2010. Born April 11, 1929 in the mountains of Scott County, VA, he was a son of the late Leroy and Grace McMurray. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War serving with US Army from January of 1951 to February of 1953. He retired in 1983 after 30 years with the Inland Division of General Motors in Dayton, OH. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, outdoor sports and spending time with his family. Member of the Grace Brethren Community Church in Glenwood, American Legion Post # 322 of West Alexandria and former member of the West Alexandria VFW. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Steve and Tom McMurray: sister Lucille McMurray: and grandson Joseph Anthony McMurray, II, Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Wanda Lee (Brannon) McMurray: loving and caring children; son Joseph McMurray of West Alexandria; daughter Linda Wathen & husband Chuck of West Alexandria; son Donald McMurray & wife Sheri of Eaton, OH: grandchildren Missy (McMurray) Newberry & husband David of Niota, TN; Charles Wathen Jr. & wife Julie of Summerville, SC; Jeremy McMurray of West Alexandria; Amy (Wathen) Lewis of West Alexandria; Julie (McMurray) Schroth & husband Jason of West Alexandria; Judy (McMurray) Mason & husband Josh of London, OH; Donnie McMurray & wife Karissa of Sarasota, FL; Andy Wathen & wife Brandy of West Alexandria; Sean McMurray & wife Shauna of West Alexandria; Jessica (McMurray) Brissey & husband Paul of College Corner, OH; and Travis McMurray of Eaton: 23 great grandchildren: brothers and sister Nelson McMurray & wife Nancy of West Alexandria; Jewel McMurray of West Alexandria; Danny McMurray of Lewisburg, OH; and Gary McMurray of Eaton: several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria. Pastors Elbert Sorrell and Arvil Dean presiding. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
