Bill Allen

Bill M. Allen, age 82, of New Lebanon, OH, passed away suddenly on Thursday morning, February 23, 2012. Born in Berea, KY, he was the son of the late John B. & Margaret (Obenchain) Allen. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the American Legion Post # 762 of New Lebanon and Life Member of VFW Post # 975 of Lewisburg, OH. Bill earned his Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University and worked as an Industrial Arts Teacher in secondary education; 9 years in New Lebanon Local Schools and 21 years with Dayton Public Schools, retiring in 1987. A longtime, active member of the New Lebanon United Methodist Church, Bill enjoyed woodworking, fishing and the morning breakfast crowd at the New Lebanon McDonald's. Survived by wife Shirley A. (Hill) Allen, whom he married in 1958: children Paula J. Bell & husband Jerry of Miamisburg, OH; John Allen & wife Wendy of Liberty Twp. in Butler County, OH; and Terry L. Watts & husband Kenneth of New Lebanon: grandchildren Derek Bell, Zack Allen, Brandy Howard, Kaylee Howard and Logan Watts: great granddaughter Ashlynn Gingry: sister Mary Lou Allen of Florida: and nephew Jim Burton & family of Florida. A Memorial service will be held 7:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2012 at the New Lebanon United Methodist Church - 2040 W. Main Street - New Lebanon. Pastor Gary Eubank will officiate.
