Betty Jo Goad

Betty Jo Goad, 91, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away peacefully on Wednesday night, June 17, 2015. Born December 29, 1923 in Twin Twp., Preble County, OH to the late Elmer Elroy & Mamie Hindy (Mikesell) Gardner. She was a 1942 graduate of Farmersville High School. Betty Jo worked 15 years for the Dayton Daily News, beginning in the Classified Ads department and then as a feature writer. She then worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Postmaster in Ingomar and then and then as Rural Route Driver at the West Alexandria Post Office. She worked 10 years at Syntha Laboratories in Ingomar and, late in her career as a feature writer for Twin Valley Publications penning the weekly column "Betty Jo". A longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Enterprise, she was also recognized as Citizen of the Year for the West Alexandria Oktoberfest. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband Ivan R. Goad on April 26, 2006: sisters and brother Treva Lipscomb, Neva Stiver, Paul Gardner and Esther Boyd. She is survived by sons Wayne A. Goad of Kettering and Steven E. Goad of Clayton: grandsons Todd Christian Goad & wife Heather of Germantown; Michael A. Goad & wife Regina of West Alexandria; Jason Andrew Goad of Kettering; and Kevin Patrick Goad & wife December of Louisville, KY: great grandchildren Jarod, Caleb, Quinn and Bronwyn. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 - 2:00 pm Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. - West Alexandria.
