Bertie M. Garner

Bertie M. Garner, 93 of West Manchester, OH and formerly of Lewisburg, OH, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday morning, April 3, 2021. Born May 15, 1927 in Preble County, she was one of 9 children born to Ozro and Eva (Birkhead) Studebaker. At age 20, she married her sweetheart Howard J. Garner on August 19, 1947. She was mostly a stay at home wife and mother, and together with Howard, raised a family that started with their 7 children and grew to over 90. She and Howard had 56 years as husband and wife, and he remained her sweetheart even after his passing on November 5, 2003. Bertie was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Twin Creek Chapel Church in West Manchester and the Red Hat Society of Preble County. She loved to be outdoors and enjoyed flower gardening, and in years past camping and fishing. She also enjoyed crafts, crochet and sewing. In addition to being a homemaker, she had also worked for 22 years with Ohio Plate Glass Company. Preceded in death by husband Howard; sons Gordon Garner and Bruce Garner; parents Ozro and Eva Studebaker; brothers; Paul, Frank, Charlie, Alvin, Ozro and Duff Studebaker; and sister Garnet Garner. She is survived by children Phillip (Ethel) Garner of Lewisburg, Howard J. (Carol) Garner of Lewisburg, Cyndi (Beverly) Pearson of West Manchester, Teresa (Harold) Vandermark of Lewisburg and Jeffrey (Patricia) Garner of West Manchester: 23 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and sister Velma Gibson of Florida.
