Alice Sandlin

Alice M. Sandlin, age 84, of Eaton, OH, passed away Friday afternoon, March 25, 2011. Born January 26, 1927 in Preble County, she was a daughter of the late Wilbur & Treva (Sheller) Banta. She worked for many years as a waitress in various restaurants including Wheeler's and Denny's in Richmond, IN and Eaton Country Club, St. Clair Inn and Country Cooker restaurants in Eaton. She attended the First Brethren Church in West Alexandria. She enjoyed travel and made it to 48 of the 50 states. She also enjoyed playing cards, and making various crafts. In addition to her parents, Alice is preceded in death by husband of 40 years E. Dean Sandlin on December 15, 1991: son Donald Shumaker in 1989: grandson Donald Shumaker, Jr. in 1964: daughter-in-law Darlene Sandlin in 2007: brother George Banta: and sister Helen Trump. Survived by children George Sandlin & daughter-in-law Barbara of Englewood; Teresa Hill & husband Jeff of West Alexandria; Sharon Heck & husband Ed of Valley Center, KS; and David Sandlin of Dayton & fiancé Danielle Bowling of Franklin: 14 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren: sister Elsie Wise of New Paris, OH. Friends may call on the family from 5:00 - 8:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2011 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria.
