Alfred V. DeVilbiss, age 90, of West Alexandria, OH, passed away Friday evening, August 31, 2012. Born in Brookville, OH, he was a son of the late Ward R. & Ellen L. (Bliss) DeVilbiss. Mr. DeVilbiss served with the US Navy as an Aviation Chief Machinist's Mate during WW II. His life revolved around his family and aviation. He worked as an investigator for the FAA, retiring after 25 years. He also worked as a pilot and flight instructor for Skyways, and later for TWA in the US and Saudi Arabia. He enjoyed travel and was able to visit many foreign countries during his life. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was loved and cherished by both family and friends. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in West Alexandria, member of James E. Ryan Post # 322 of West Alexandria; the King Hiram Masonic Lodge and the Gleaners Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star of West Alexandria. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife Mildred Lorraine (Carter) DeVilbiss: son Alfred Ward DeVilbiss: grandson Justin Peffley: brothers Kenneth and Cletus DeVilbiss: and sister Dorothy Jordan. Survived by wife of 53 years Mary Lou (Collins) DeVilbiss:daughters Carolyn Clevenger, Sharron Pierce and Shirleann (Michael) Fahrenholz: sons Herbert (Karen) DeVilbiss, Richard (Nazlin) Peffley and Timothy Peffley: grandchildren John (Anna) Fahrenholz, Mariann (Jennifer) Fahrenholz Day,Douglas (Lisa) Pierce, Matthew (Rachel) Pierce, Nathan Peffley, Sultana Peffley, Majeed Peffley, Patricia Mitchell and Tiffany (Jon) Benninger: great grandchildren Isabella, William, Daniel and Lucas Fahrenholz; Abigail, Ann, and Andrew Fahrenholz Day; Madeleine and Emilie Pierce, Cayden Brown, Joslynn Deiter and Christian Benninger. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 - 2:00 PM Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Robert L. Crooks Funeral Center at Preble Memory Gardens - 3377 US Rt. 35 - West Alexandria.
